Religion: A Protest Poem by Richard St. Clair

Religion: A Protest

Rating: 4.0

Faith, a boon for some, a curse for others,
From multifarious eras long forgotten,
Through different tongues their creeds were so begotten,
Arousing converse ‘twixt and between brothers.
Yet in the arcane words of faith as told
By priests and monks and gurus by the number,
To many folks such words are dumb and dumber,
Yet the Dalai Lama kindness does uphold.
Too often do we hear of scabrous acts
By men of the cloth who have no moral bounds
And give rise to their victims' weeping sounds;
These are the inescapable grim facts.
Religion, though to millions gives serenity,
To many is a cause for inhumanity.

Two sides of the coin called religion highlighted thoughtfully.
