When I was a young pup I made a decision To fall in love, so I fell for religion We held hands in church; we chatted at school For a while we ignored the unfortunate truth:
Religion and I were never likely to last I was only fourteen; the age difference was vast Our values conflicted; we'd never agree Though we had things in common, we'd never be married.
Religion and I, we came to an end We broke it off amiably, agreed to be friends Though I've never looked back, and I've never missed her I'll always remember the first time I kissed her.

This poem is about my first girlfriend as well. My affairs with her, and with religion, were so inextricably intertwined that a poem about one has to be about the other too.

You know Jesus felt the same way in a sense, He was always antagonized, ridiculed and in conflict with the religions of His time. I also agree very much with you. As religion is based on a sect of believers dogmas that they expect you to adopt and caress as absolute. I prefer to aproach the Creator and seek His guidance with the help of those who don't impose their creeds and rules but teach about God's grace and love. I hope you find your way as well.
