Remaining Prepared Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Remaining Prepared

The pressure?
Few unaware,
Could care less about that pressure.
Or how to measure,
The merit of its virtue.
When someone unknown,
Condones a living of their life...
Done to do to sacrifice,
For a dream to want and wished to get.
With a focus fixed.
Kept upon it and devoted persued.

No one determined,
Sits to await...
For an opportunity to appear.
Their incentive is the dream.
To feel and know,
That day will arrive to make it clear.
And proactive they will stay.
Long before and not after,
Knocking on hundreds of doors.
Ready!
Knowing what they've got.
Whenever that one door opens.
As other doors seem,
To do the same thing nonstop.

Remaining prepared,
And aware of what one has to offer.
Makes the difference.
Than sitting to wish,
For dreams to come true.
Few are that fortunate to get,
What they dream to wish...
Without work involved.
Or tears to fall from eyes to drip.
Disappointments to experience them,
Come to go.
Is what it takes to endeavor,
Wishing for that dream.

And...
Sometimes not to even know,
When that dream came to be bestowed.

"Congratulations! "

-Congratulations?
For what? -

"Your efforts endeavored."

-My efforts to endeavor?
Which ones? -

"The ones not for comedy.
You got jokes, huh? "

-I have no idea what you're talking about.-

"Yeah. Right! "
