Rematch Poem by Matt Mondschein

Rematch

Rating: 4.5

Rematch, Rematch
the hometown crowd, did scream
so our friend, Billy, can live his dream

His foe not so tough
the short four rounds, rough
Billy stunned the dude
with blow to blow
stunned the dude again
with a left/right combo

The judges incompetent
the crowd bellowed the boos
we all shook our heads in despair
how can he lose

yet Billy, a gentlemen, shook off the loss
with pride
that's boxing he said
'I'm in for the long ride'

The Sands Event center was hoppin'
like so many nights
the legends of boxing
saw a card of great fights

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I lost my child hood friend at fifty three, to prostate cancer, he was a pro boxer, he trained his son well, now he 's a pro too, in his second pro fight, clearly won the decision, yet on all three score cards the incompetent judges, had his opponent winning the bout!
