Remember Brother Poem by Akpa Arinzechukwu

Remember Brother

Rating: 4.3

Remember brother!
If I were born earlier;
Earlier enough to carry a sword,
Or a machine gun,
I would have been a warrior or a soldier
I could have been killer of souls;
I would kill every soul laughing like I never cared,
I would tear out people’s hearts,
Press them hard till they get tired of dropping blood,
I would be known as a serial killer or a dangerous warrior,
And at the mention of my name, every soul trembles and
Confesses that I tread where devils and angels fear to tread,

But I was born at night,
When everyone was still asleep and snoring;
Dreaming about the beautiful things of the world.
I was born on a merry-month,
When masters and servants were on vacation:
An omen that I was never going to carry a weapon

Remember brother!
I am not a weakling,
I am strong as you my brother;
I too know many ways to kill a man but I can’t fight you,
You’re my blood – you’re my brother.
Brother, my strength lies not in killing,
And in killing lies not my trophy.

Remember brother!
The path we’ve walked together as kids
Remember all these memories
And drop your weapon
We’ve suffered much from the intruders
Remember!
Why are we still fighting now that there’re gone?
Let’s forget our differences and live in peace,
Love each other and anywhere we are seen,
People bow, tremble and worship at our feet.

All these brother, if you ever remember our past,
Our strength joined together and mind at peace,
We shall become the giants
Angels will love and devils fear.

Remember brother!
If you don’t take my advice
And stab me the way you want – I’ll sure die,
But tomorrow brings your own death also – nobody lives here longer.
