Remembering You Poem by ANJALI KAKATI

Remembering You

I remember
one fine day,
You had walked
Into the dark corridors of my life
Like the sunshine
After a long, cold, dark night.
Bringing with you
All the warmth
All the glow

Long awaited
Never felt.

I remember
Holding your
Little finger
And chasing
The wild, wild wind
Like two innocent children
In pursuit of the unknown dream.
It was pure joy.

Long awaited
Never felt.

I remember
Those moments
When your heart
Had melted in mine
And my soul in your soul
Like the scent of the soil
After a bout of fresh rains
Melts in the
Flavour of the
Monsoon wind.
It was absolute bliss

Always waited for
Never received.

I remember
One fine day
You turned and walked
Away
Without even turning to wave goodbye
Like someone
Who one day just curled up and died
And did not have time
Even to say goodbye.
It was so much of heartache

Never expected
Never felt.

I remember
