Reminisce Poem by Erin Taylor

Reminisce

I believe
that in each person's life
when the hour hand of their clock
perches itself in front of the tall, gold encrusted Gates
they first walk to the peak of the sky
and recite their entire life
Their success
Their regrets
Their milestones
And then the elements are crafted
into a brand new one
A star
A glistening white dove
bringing back that olive branch
that signals your departure
Why you ask?
Because that success
those regrets
those milestones
Those are all anchors
shackles that poison the mind
and blur the vision
of the comforting afterlife
But the stars
they trap your dead weight
and brighten it
so the People of reality
will gaze upon them
and maybe even see past the blaring light
Yet people still wonder
why they will always admire
gawking at the twinkling beauties.
