I recently watched again a French-Polish film from the late 1980s called DANTON about Robespierre's plot against his former friend and colleague in the Revolution whom he had guillotined. The irony being a few months later others guillotined Robespierre. Danton says in a public defense of his innocence, THE REVOLUTION IS EATING ITS OWN CHILDREN! That's a political context for your skinny poem. Or is the decapitation a metaphor for the break-up of a marriage?
