Rise And Decline Poem by Colin Coplin

Rise And Decline

It's not so easy to inherit a world
Playing oyster to a precious rare jewel
Mother Nature's packed her bags now she's gone
Has me wondering, if something's gone wrong
Why has she left so soon
To the call of the Piper's tune
Why did she leave so fast
Was it something we didn't forecast

Same place but not the same time, It's the cycle of rise and decline
And the stars keep shinning, Moon still turns the tides...

It's not so easy to invest in the soil,
She's temperamental, ask any young girl
Hey archaeologist you dig up the past
Tell me how long can a memory last
How long can a memory last

Doing the motions again,
It's kind of like dancing with friends
Same place but not the same time,
In the cycle of rise and decline

Rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline

Same place but not the same time, It's the cycle of rise and decline
And the stars keep shinning, Moon still turns the tides...

But our future only laughs, folds back while it floats past
Then disappears with a wink and a smile, only then reappear with a wink and a smile

Rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline

Greed, ignorance, and famine make us a slave
Keep us chained to the idols we've made
Hey archaeologist you dig up the past,
Tell me how long can a memory last
How long can a memory last,

Doing the motions again,
It's kind of like dancing with friends
Same place but not the same time,
In the cycle of rise and decline

Rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline, rise and decline

Same place but not the same time, It's the cycle of rise and decline
And the stars keep shinning, Moon still turns the tides...
