Rock Sugar Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Rock Sugar

Rock sugar

It is said of old days:
"Raced many youngsters
To become the lover
To sweetest of the girls, "
Now, topics in my head
Race to be selected.

Should I choose
Hypocrites?
Populists?
Democrats?
Freedom?
Jail? Trap?

Should I write
Of joy, love?
Or of the ugly walls?
Or of need for a loaf?
Or wanting a smile?

Chariots keep going,
Horses are galloping
And hello is hazard
Unless is wag of tail
Or waving in the air.

Boring is observing
This funny apocalypse
In the cage and lonely,
Which causes ecstasy.

I think of rock sugar
In food bag of a beast
In need of hay, green.

What is wrong, stupid?

Animal, the natural?
Or the things I have done?
Why to feed the donkey
With sugar or honey?
