Rocks Poem by Joe Bisicchia

Rocks

Rocks have personalities
I think
maybe.
Got to get to know them.

Granite, some hide under stripes.
Some are forgotten and unseen.
Some are indiscreet in the scene,
forward and falling and hard to miss.

Some are forgiving.
Those welcoming, we see them
and they are there in their grain
and we are quick to touch.

Some allow themselves to be lifted,
to fly, but some not as much.
Some are willing to be misused,
willing to be weaponry as such.

Some skip the water,
and others cut the skin.
Some open windows
and others drum upon the tin.

Some express themselves stubbornly,
hard to handle, and hard to shake.
They rather be what they are, free
and let it be.

Some, for that freedom,
another's back they will break.
Some are easily broken,
and spread across the bleached road.

While others, no matter their weight
are willing to be wedged into place
and sacrifice their own backs
to carry the runaway trains.

Very imaginative poem, Joe! I like it. Some rocks have much more personality than others...
