Romance Possessed Us Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Romance Possessed Us

We spent one fine day
in the Bay of Milano
Old Napoli, overlooking the sea,
where flowers of the rarest
and scenes of the fairest
abound on the Isle of Capri.

Sunbeams caressed us
romance possessed us
and the future was all
we could see.

We wended our way to
ancient Pompeii... guitars
played a sweet melody;
and a ring of the rarest
forever we'll cherish, for it
shone like a star in Anacapris.
