Rome Upon Corona Poem by binti laye

Rome Upon Corona

Rating: 5.0

(Corona to Heaven)
The Vignettes of Rome
The beauty of Rome
Abandoned to its own gaze
Where are those from far and near
In search of glow and raves

Pestilence hung upon the streets
Like lanterns leaning on lintels

Forsaken meals become our fetish,
We rejoice and relish in our glut,
Fauci read your scrolls
Surely, thou knoweth much.

Where art thou Victor?
Loosen Frankenstein.

Like the centaur,
Its might consumes
And humans drop in numbers
Like farms attacked by locusts.

Even vultures are wary of the carcasses
Filling the streets
With stench and pestilence
Dry winds paddling the skies
With human apparels
Dripping spikes

Avoid the streets!
Men hanging on ties
Dying on their own will

Women clutching their tots
Nursing thoughts of death.

The beauty of Rome deserted
Where are those from far and near?
In search of glow and raves!

Pestilence hangs upon the streets
Like lanterns leaning on lintels.
