Royal road Poem by Manfred Peter Hein

Royal road

Give yourself up for lost says the tempest
you shall fly with the trees
be the last leaf
flash lightning veins you
I'll carry set you
straight

Missive written on topsoil and grass
to the burial mounds of Sardis
to the Royal Road

Translation: Nicholas Grindell
