Russia Shoots Down A Own Su-34m (English Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Russia Shoots Down A Own Su-34m (English Sonnet)

After receiving the first of the upgraded
Su-34M fighter-bombers during June,
close to Alvhevsk Russia the Ukraine aided,
when a missile did its sights to the jet tune,

an air defence system fired at night,
from the Luhansk republic did the jet hit,
with a fireball that fall, the sky was alight;
RF-95890 does a Russian fighter-bomber fit,

with avionics, communication and radar,
twelve tons of bombs, missiles and a gun,
this does the Russian interconnectivity mar,
does a person to frailty of human life stun:

with technology being armed to the teeth,
nothing did against destiny a defence leave.

{Poet's notes: This aircraft is rated as one of the best and the most advanced that the Russians have and had been manufactured at U$ 36 million per aircraft. The Oryx blog, that keeps an online record of visually verified equipment lost in the Ukrainian conflict have eleven other Su-34 aircraft that had been shot down by the Ukraine.]
