Safari (Senryu) Poem by Seamus O' Brian

Safari (Senryu)

daily we rush past
countless leafy miracles
looking for lions

green the cathedral
spires soaring with my soul
unbound higher still

elephants scuffle
feinting combat without wounds
leaves of grass destroyed

wildlife observes
excited humans swarming
long lens migrations

Nicely written observational and philosophical senryu. Your note is so true. In nature we have much to learn and observe and nature will simply outlast us.

The first one sets the perspective for the rest, Neal. And I like the perspective turnaround in the last; it makes me think of the cartoons of Gary Larson. Hoping you’re thriving in all ways, Glen
