In mid-November,
Adelaide Downunder ex-
udes the odd haiku:
Winter 16's ex-
trordinary wash relieved,
o yes that wash did, Decem-
ber's usual droops.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
AT FIRST READING, i thought someone (a woman?) was named Adelaide Downunder. well, maybe one is, but i then recalled Adelaide is a city in Australia aka Downunder/Down Under? so maybe a city is exuding. but then it get harder aka more difficult for me. is winter 16's some type of Australian sports contest? now, i THINK wash can mean when two actions kind of cancel one another. or it could mean laundry being or having been washed to clean it. or maybe they (i mean people) wash themselves in your country also? ? or is it a reference to rain, or a car wash? so something relieved a depression (sag; droops) brought on by winter? and you guys just finished with winter, right? and we are about to begin ours; or have we? and i KNOW some Downunder movies are impossible for me to understand due to the accents, but do you spell differently...this word? [i know i don't pronounce it the way i spell it! ] i think extra-ordinary. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ex·traor·di·nar·y ikˈstrôrd(ə) nˌerē, ˌekstrəˈôrdnˌerē/ adjective adjective: extraordinary; adjective: extra-ordinary 1. very unusual or remarkable. the extraordinary plumage of the male synonyms: remarkable, exceptional, amazing, astonishing, astounding, sensational, stunning, incredible, unbelievable, phenomenal; More striking, outstanding, momentous, impressive, singular, memorable, unforgettable, unique, noteworthy; out of the ordinary, unusual, uncommon, rare, surprising; informalfantastic, terrific, tremendous, stupendous, awesome; literarywondrous an extraordinary coincidence unusually great. young children need extraordinary amounts of attention synonyms: very great, tremendous, enormous, immense, prodigious, stupendous, monumental extraordinary speed (of a meeting) specially convened. an extraordinary session of the Congress (of an official) additional; specially employed. his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary in London noun noun: extraordinary; plural noun: extraordinaries; noun: extra-ordinary; plural noun: extra-ordinaries 1. an item in a company's accounts not arising from its normal activities - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - anyway, hopefully my and your Australian readers can make sense of this. ha ha this shall soon be in Section B of my/our November showcase for PH poets, on my PH site. thanks. bri :)
