Sandstone Heart Poem by D.A. Woods

Sandstone Heart

I knew at the very start,
she has something beating in-between her chest,
that something she hides away from the rest,
her beautiful, complex body part.
I use to think mine was all alone,
'til she walked into my life,
melting mine like butter on a knife,
her façade, her heart of stone.
I know its there, ready to crumble,
with every kiss I make,
her heart in these hands I'd never forsake,
I would never take that gamble.
When it starts to break down and this is what I believe,
she is the owner of a beautiful sandstone heart,
when it's stripped bare, I shall catch it, never to depart,
as mines was made for her, and hers was made for me.
