Saviour In Doubt Poem by Talia Anziliero

Saviour In Doubt

We say we want peace,
But is that true?
They say we must fight for me and you,
Must blood really bring peace or just peace of mind for you?

While you go to war,
We must sit, ponder, and contemplate;
Of the children you make orphans,
The wives you make widows and,
The Innocence that you desecrate.

What, you expect us to be held by hands that ended so many lives in that field this day,
And when you sit and ask, why today?
Think. What if it was I you slaughtered,
I who you held with remorse and hate,
Would you care that you had killed me on account of the law?

I shall answer, no. You would not give second thought,
For you kill for country and land,
You kill for a man who knows only mistakes and hate.

So why should I love a warrior, with blood upon his hands,
Why should I smile at the detail of death?
You do his bidding and you do their bidding,
So why should I love a one sided fool?

Why can’t I love a man who cares for all, without a spec of blood insight?
A man who has views that conquer all hate instead of enforcing it?
Because I am already gone, in a man’s world I was slaughtered, when I saved the innocent and avoided the wicked.
It was you who smiled at me with malice; you extinguished my flame of life.

Now I am just a ghost of the dead, the dying, the weepers and the people, who are crying,
Forever shall my soul cry and keep the innocence safe from your death count,
Now I am forever the wind, the saviour in the doubt.
