Scars Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Scars

None are expose to mask them.
Or have it believed,
The healing process...
Continues to may never leave.

Yet scars to remember,
How, when and why they exist.
From personal battles,
Remaining in one's mind.
With time given to permit,
Feeling wounded and betrayed.
Is a kept struggle fought to fight,
Inside until one decides...
Whether or not those scars to have,
Are left over from a war wishing to end.
Or felt to keep them reminisced.
As if a victim welcoming,
Being attacked over and over again.
By struggles long to have gone.

But those memories to forget,
Have their way to revisit.
Every now and then,
Appearing uninvited whenever they wish.
Like a nightmare returning.
Grinning and pretending to be a friend.
Proving a letting them go,
Is a myth to delude it!
As if to know...
Too much happiness to have,
Is in need to relive a bit of guilt.
And what is guilt,
Without a little pain to feel?

"I'm baaacckkk! "

-Oh, GOD! -

"No!
Try again! "
