Scrambled Eggs Poem by Daniel B. Syphus

Scrambled Eggs

I once went out riding
My bike it was gliding
As I sailed off the top of a jump
It was no joke
When I broke a yoke
As my freight hit the bar with a thump.

A detour I’d taken
For fun I’d been achin’
The return from my errand could wait
But because of the wreck
I knew I’d catch heck
For returning back home one hour late.

My mom wasn’t happy
Nor was my pappy
A full dozen had been their request.
So out of the door
To fetch just one more
I hustled at their behest.

To the neighbors I went
To the hen house they sent
Me and there little boy Greg
Then Into the coop
He went with a stoop
And came right back out with the egg

I shuffled straight home
No more dared I roam
For pa’d waved good by with a belt
If I didn’t scurry
Once he’d told me “HURRY! ”
My sit down would soon have a welt.

The moral’s quite short
For this here report
It’s a simple thing to settle
When ever you fly off a jump on your bike
Keep each foot tight to the peddle.
