Scuffed Soul Poem by priscah Mutswenje

Scuffed Soul

By the beach
I sat to wait for my rib
Whom my soul loved
I raised to seek for his face
But, his figure kept my hope at bay
My heart was thirsty
My mind grew tense
Robbing my spicy determination,
Raising provocative fury in my spine
I sensed mere betrayal
Then came a shadow
In the scuffs I well knew
My spirit rose with a smile!
Driving me to his arms
I deeply sunk into his shoulders
Letting the cold out of me
He did not utter a single word
As we headed for the waters
He kept my head low passionate warmth
Feeling my passionate warmth
Until we sunk deep in the ocean
He was a stranger!
Directed by his spirits
I learned to my head
My beloved had been robbed,
Robbed off his identity.
