Sea Of Sorrow Poem by ShellyBean Stanowski

Sea Of Sorrow

She is adorned with conch shells,
shades of pink,
mottled brown
and tan.
Treasured prizes of the sea.
Her wedding dress of foaming white
her veil weaving...
with the waves at my feet.
Her hair of emerald sea grasses,
tangled by tempestuous winds.
Her necklace of pearls,
giving way to her heaving coral breasts,
revealing bouquets of starfish flowers
and blooming anemones.

Oh ocean...
your beauty is so fair.
I see your tranquil waters
soothing my wounds and pain.
I taste your raging brine...
salty tears
of loves lost.
I feel the tides of your arms
pulling...
sifting...
searching the sands of time
for the groom that abandoned you.

Dear lady...
wash away this aching,
this need
that I am incapable of drowning.
Take it in your billowing surf,
lap up all that entangles me...
sweep it out into your abyss...
Oh sister of my soul!

that laughter I hear?
Oh fickle lady!
Please...
I beg of you...
replenish my desire
leave your sadistic hand empty
for a brief moment.

You have been betrayed too.
A bride left
unrestrained...
you bubble forth such anger.
Drag this anguish
down...
down...
into your icy depths,
just this once.
Embrace me...
pamper the wounds
of my aching heart.
I beseech you!
Allow me to take refuge
in your yearning arms
and as I sink beneath your surface
like a thief,
like a gentle thief...
steal him from my being.
So that I may emerge,
free of my bondage.

I sense some feelings of hopeless longing in this poem. You have put it together so nicely in your oceanic metaphore. Well done Shel! !
