See Ya Poem by Ellen Ni Bheachain

See Ya

Your tongue lashes out about me,
With cold and clashing words,
Of your own insecurities,
Yet you direct it to my path of life,
As longs as who is with you,
Agrees and laughs with you,
Do you feel better then?

So why would you want to keep up with me,
When I have become so set in my ways,
Boring compared to your ways,
And not so fashion conscious as those you are seen with,
Is it a disappointment?
I am not now what you expected of me,
Perhaps if I had known this then,
I might have been able to comply in some way,

Yet on reflection, you knew it too,
I was far from what you usually went for,
So, perhaps I was just a change from the rest,
Perhaps, you were trying to change yourself,
That is something you can only explain,

All I know is we spent Spring to early winter knowing each other,
While still living our lives in different worlds from each other,
At that time, we were tranquil and casually engaging.
And that was that,
So, why do you judge me or compare me to them,
When you knew who I was and here I am now,
Still that same person you knew back then.
