Seeking A Substitute Poem by samuel faye

Seeking A Substitute

May I write to you my love notes
while my heart waits on this shelf?
May I pour out loves sweet nectar?
Make you the reservoir of loves wealth.

I have no claim to your sweet song
but I hear my hearts reply,
And I long to have a resting place
when I don't have wings to fly.

May I sing for you my love song?
For it's bubbling in my soul.
So much love should not be wasted,
for wasting takes an awful toll.

Every day I wake and smile now
for the peace that dwells in me.
Still I feel this rushing river
with no outlet to the sea.

Will you be for me loves sounding board
echoing back my hearts soft plea?
And tell me you believe that love
has not forgotten me?

May I write to you my love notes?
Will you listen to my rhyme?
Can you help me fill the hours
until loves appointed time
