Selfish Poem by Chelsea Mell

Selfish

let me sleep in
dream in your arms
silently dreaming of all we've been sceming
never planning ahead
nor treading steady
we just weren't ready
but they couldn't care
they weren't there watching us fall
[we weren't ready at all]
though how could you say
you'd try again any day
when you know your life's receding
like a bald man's hair line
and in the freezing winter wind
would you stall and wither then?
but you're just being selfish
and you won't get what you want
when all you do is flaunt that ego
and make me go insane!
but in this last refrain i'll say
you're everything i'd dreamed you'd be
and i just wanna sleep in
