Two hearts thrust onto separate paths,
Love's pledges no longer declared,
Fading into oblivion.....
Those tender moments we once shared
My heart learned to sing.... now it cries,
In the corner glows a small fire,
A flame that gives not light nor heat,
Just an ember of love's desire
The silence is overwhelming,
The absence of love's calming word
Shatters the morning's gray lining,
Love's crystal clear vision, now blurred
My eyes grow dark, here comes the rain,
Another storm batters my heart,
When love dies, must memories live on?
Like salt rubbed in wounds.... how they smart
Love has lost its sanctuary,
A warm, tender heart closed its door,
Once again, a homeless vagabond,
My love wanders a lonely shore
Two hearts thrust upon different paths,
O, the pain separation brings,
Love was not meant to walk alone,
And despairs in its wanderings
Good morning Lora. A late Merry Christmas! Thanks for your support and recent review and comments. I am not getting notifications, sorry for the late response. I enjoyed this beautiful, sad, romantic poem. You have certainly a gift at bringing so many things into the mind of your reader. I was carried away by the words of this piece. Well done, Loyd
Your poem reminded me of Frank, an ex. We had love, but we were forced into separate paths, and my heart cried. But a new love was found, and life is now good. Thanks for the poem and the memory it brought. Darla :)

I'm sure the man that you lost would be very flattered, and possibly regretful, if he knew you were writing such beautiful poetry in tribute to the love you both once shared.
