Set Fire To The 'We' Poem by Trey Salm

Set Fire To The 'We'

Rating: 5.0

I live in a house
where mirrors replace broken windows
and each passing glance
has me railing back in disgust
and to think I used to lift up
the falling birds from the burning sky
wih bullet hole wings, the storm rages
Now I just sit tight and sigh
with pity on my left and guilt on my right
and who knows of rain
better than father sky
why would the sun shine
if there was no day time
set fire to the we
all these problems revolve around me
in a circular rotation
set fire to the we
all this self induced pain
acts as a drug contamination
tired of accepting my exestenial goal
that we are all the same
tired of feeling that i have to be more than just a man

Wow. Really deep, I love the metaphors. Great poem. (Existentialism, btw) :)
