Shades Of Color Poem by Emmanuel Barlow

Shades Of Color

Why is it that we can accept red and orange sunsets,
But when we see a black man with a white woman. They become suspect
Why does their complexion even matter
Can we please stop all the chitter chatter
Why does their complexion even cause racial tention and cause your eyes to stand at attention
I'd bet that there back bare the scars that your jagged stares engraved as you cut your eyes while they walked away.
See neither music nor love bare no complexion
They universal neccessities that demand ur attention.
See we are all different shades of color
See when god made us he made us multi colored
Not because he wanted to make us his coloring book
But so that we would know that he never had to take a second look.
So we could accept skies of blue and grass of green
But when we see some one not of our race we just become soo mean
If nature can accept different shades of color why can't we?
Let's get it together people because your blood is red and so is mine there we are me.
