I'm watching two shadows on the wall,
They're standing very close;
It's a man and a woman facing each other,
He's offering her a rose;
She puts out her hand and then hesitates,
She's not sure what to do;
It's a tainted rose from a man she trusted,
He's confessing to being untrue;
I see tears rolling down her face
As her hands fall to her side;
He tries to get closer, but she backs away,
O, damn her foolish pride!
She's talking to him and wiping her tears
As she points toward the door;
He bows his head, and as he turns to go
The rose falls to the floor.
Now her shadow stands alone on the wall,
She'll stand there for eternity;
I remember it like it was yesterday -
Those shadows of you and me.
If I had the chance to do it again,
I'd accept the rose and forgive;
Now I'm just a shadow of a woman
Without a reason to live.
Learn a lesson from this, dear friend,
We all make mistakes, and we fall;
Learn to forgive, or you'll be like me
Recalling shadows of love on the wall.
I would leave a comment if PH would let me! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! : (
