Shadows Serve One Well Poem by K J

Shadows Serve One Well

Birds fly without sound
No song do they sing
Hearts bleed
Yet they lose rhythm
Monotonous in tone
It does not feel
Through imagery and art
One can recreate passion
To quicken what is lost
Through a stroke from a brush
A splash of colour on canvas
On the floor on a wall
Flowers tremble in the breeze
The sun scorching their colour
Their originality, their purpose
What made them tremble just then
Quiver and contemplate
It is the impeding feeling of the unknown
The shadows on the walls tell me nothing
Yet they mock me with their darkness
Splayed uncaringly, somewhat shabbily
Against the wall, the surface
It sees all and yet
It seems that it doesn't
The shadows serve one well
If they care to choose that path
