Shattered Path Laid Anew Poem by Casey Gochnour

Shattered Path Laid Anew

Treacherous road laiden by shadow, leading forever on.
Broken down paths lacking single hallow, treading as life's pawn.
Sticks snap, floors crack, the world began to crumble,
Holding on to the earth as the ground began to rumble.

But soft, as the sky grew red with darkened cloud,
As the land was covered with the deepest shroud,
As the waters rose to fifty feet in the air,
Landing all around to bring despair,

Far off in the distance, I could see
One more being, one more being other than me.
Elegance in her step, yet pained in her walk,
Time has flown, the long lasting clock.

It is plain to see, life has not been kind to you,
Nor to me, but now we can be, we can do,
Everything you've wanted to.
I've finally found you.

Once I caught up to your pace,
The world seemed a more serene place.
The sun shines brighter, the air seems lighter,
The water more clear; a world without fear.

Your kindness outshone even my own,
Your being shook me down to the very bone.
Beauty and intelligence, spiritual in the very sense,
Understanding and love at levels immense.

Your laughter, your eyes, no surprise,
Captured my soul, yet yours is the prize.
Hannah, my dear, yours is the one I yearn for,
Once I learned of your being, I swore,

No matter what happens, we will walk side by side,
And though the path will crack, forever in my heart you'll reside.
I strive for feelings burned deep within,
Your life is everything I intend to win.
