She Often Told Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

She Often Told

She often told

I wished her good health
I knew she was meeting with death
And not coming back again
I saw her in pain

"It is intolerable"
And unbearable too
Why god is not relieving me
And making free

Now I don't want to live
I strive for nothing
I have been made homeless
That only makes me sad and pinches

She died as expected
Her son was far and her body was to be preserved
We kept her t cold storage
Due to some dispute, her wish was edge out

My son in law was misguided
The matter was already decided
She was to be cremated directly from cold storage
Her ambition for last rites to remained with storage

I voiced my concern
But turned in vain
He was totally taken over
My mother in law was cremated directly there

Any parents would want to see their home
Where they had spent lots of time
She often told about helplessness
I could see too worry lines
