Shephard Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Shephard

Rating: 5.0

Shepherd was following
Sheep were on move and allowing
On greenery pastor land to graze
Sun was soon to ablaze

This was time to rest under shed
All animal flocks rested as if were dead
It was enough for day time
Shepherd too relaxed along with this time

He had so much in mind
He himself was very sympathetic and kind
The stick on shoulder and flute spoke of his talent
He was master of vocal art and fully alert

Flute voice filled melody in air
He had heroic songs in store
How great his ancestors had struggled!
How were they happy and secured?

I heard each word carefully
He was leading life successfully
Even he was short of basic needs
Yet life was fulfilled sans greed

He was under the shelter of nature
Whole of universe was his protector
Sky stood above and earth lay vast
He wanted to breathe here at last

Even sheep spoke nothing
But responded to everything
With one call they were up on feet
Ready to follow and form a fleet

He had only one god
Earth as mother to prove food
Nature to act as good friend and protector
He himself was lone but as good actor
