Simple Math-Repoetified Poem by Long Tooth

Simple Math-Repoetified

It's remarkable how strong denial can be,
it appears that the wise have it right.
Most who vote, in their nibs, trust a flatterer's fibs,
(hide their heads in the sand, hate a 'fight.')

So, we vote for our prejudice, opt not to think,
though what's right may be right in our faces.
Earth's warming cries, "Ouch! " Look, death curls on our couch,
as we wager our souls at dog races.

Now fossil fuel lies at the heart of what matters:
oil, gas, coal, polluting resources.
And waste (we now marry) births futures more scary,
burns prospects of wealth with divorces.

If head is on straight, you know world's time's in doubt, for
strength fails us, and Love needs ‘Revival Halls! '
Air, soil, clean water, and sea drift toward bankruptcy,
Rabbits who breed wean our kids on ‘Great Malls! '

It's the logic of math that spells out coming doom,
Population growth change is ‘tough trick, '
Hear me please (if you sigh) ! Hate to hear a child cry?
Trust the humble when voting, not dick!

Poet's Notes:
What most fail to understand and appreciate is the implication of the exponential function of math. The ENTIRE PROVEN RESERVE that the new Alaskan pipeline will only meet US needs for 2-3 months folks (if that was all that we had) and we could run out of mineable coal in 25-50 years not 500 years. If you care about the future at all, you should check out a DVD called 'Arithmetic, Population, And Energy' by Dr. Albert A. Bartlett, Department of Physics, at the University of Colorado. Yes, you should be scared of both Pollyanna types and science haters in both political parties. Donald Trump is to me a clear indication of how fragile human civilization really is.

Some may enjoy comparing the earlier version of this poem 'Simple Math' which I have left standing on this site with this new version. I don't revise older poems very often though I might, of course. Sharing both versions with frequent readers, I hope, will give those who are interested a chance to witness how my writing of poetry is evolving with time!
