Sleeping In Class Poem by Daya Nandan

Sleeping In Class

So calming and relaxing is this darkness I see,
So, tranquil and calm, my mind feels free,
Amplified gravity seems to be in this special state,
I can't get up, I cannot even support my own weight,

Delightful visions start to surround me in my contemplation,
Imagination running wild, my powers of visualization,
A moment when ideas of reality are mixed with visions of my mind,
That new vision you gain when in reality you seem blind,

Awesome it does seem as I watch my ideas float,
Though in sobarity I feel a sudden dryness at my throat,
As footsteps and noises awaken me from my special place,
I begin to become conscious of both time and space,

Youthful voices i hear speaking of the attendance list,
And the authoritative voice of the lecturer speaking of some kind of cyst,
As i wonder in my stuporous state of when will this will end,
I realize that not a single thing in the lecture hall that i can understand,

I awaken for a moment with my sleepy face,
I hear the lecturer talking about some serious medical case,
And hence, goes by does the time in the hour glass,
Another reason for me to sleep again like a boss in my class: P,
