Sleepless Dreams Poem by Braden Patton

Sleepless Dreams

Every day is longer than the last.
I wish for every morning to go fast,
Though I know with out you around
I have no reason to look at the clouds.

Every day I wonder why I still must wake.
Each night drags on and I cant take
The sleepless dreams and dreary fright,
That take place without you each night.

It seems like the world only turns for you,
And now my world has stopped turning, too.
I can explain it, but I know,
If you were around time wouldn’t move so slow.

If you were here I wouldn’t feel pointless,
Likethe day has no meaning, more or less.
If you were here it would be too late,
To apologize for my careless words and uttered hate.

I know that it was for the best,
Too bad I must live my life without any rest.
I cant sleep; I’m so tired,
deprived of what I desire,
I’ll go on without falling asleep
Knowing you would be the focus of my dreams.
This is why I cant sleep,
Too afraid I’d wake up to my own screams,
Of you not being there when I wake,
Tortured by the image of your grace,
knowing we will never again embrace...
