Sleepless Night (Sonnet) Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Sleepless Night (Sonnet)

Rating: 3.5

Fire fly crashing in to my serene world
castes off its rays at its will, uninvited
Please leave me alone.... Get lost...!
On rumbling cracker wheels of steel
a roaring bulldozer, forcing in stealthily
in to my eardrums, the vampire mosquito
Night thickens, feeling colder
hear dew drops kissing emerald sod
Boring tune snarling, every quarter hour
the dastardly chimed wall-ghost
being all out to castigate in this fiery night
Eerie world congregating around
conspiring to strangulate me
Ere the golden rays enter my den
