Snowy Prides At Loggerheads Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Snowy Prides At Loggerheads

From a land of golden beaches and
Aromatic tropical leafy brew, renown, I flew
Seeking to feel a higher academic plateau
Landed afresh on the 'nerve center'
Of the Emperor's kingdom
Which doesn't witness sunset
Being a neophyte, facing a white morning, one day
Confronted a maid at door, with a grin and a query
'Beautiful isn't it? Do you have it at home?
Knowing where I come from, why she asked, wondered, I
Abashed, bewildered and stunned, I, in a flash
Transmitted my soul in light speed homeward
Roamed and scanned around for a moment
Yes, I found it, differently though, I felt
It comes as pure white specks
Falls slowly, deposits on all surfaces
Layer on layer, making things at times immovable
Touching and handling gives a burning sensation
Yet, we do attend to it regularly, for sure
Letting the stuff melt, and flow out as water
'Yes of course' Responded, I, in affirmative
'Oh......! Do You......? Where was it? '
Apprehensively, she fires back
'You know, we do experience this.... at home' I whispered
She snooped through mouth, not ears
'In our refrigerators'

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......phoooo....ph!
As I had a blink, she was ten meters away
