Slice Of Relief Poem by Jessie J. Rivera

Slice Of Relief

Her eyes begin to weep as she puts another slice of relief
across her vein.
Voice cracks and breaks as she detaches it from,
my name.
Blood fills the room, like moist clouds does the air,
before it rains.
Eyelids hang, now she’s feeling more and less,
of empty pain.

Wrap the wound, slow the bleed, cover up that soak
blood flesh.
Smiles and laughs, in the face of a failed attempt at a
second death.
Heart beat skips rhythm, falls to the ground fresh out
of her chest.
Such a feeling should be mourned, laid to peace
in it’s rest.

A tearful outburst, reaching out for help and
true love.
As her soul will never fly, wanders the ground,
like a wingless dove.
Connects scars with blades, to erase the prints, without
wearing gloves.
Attempts are all she has, too scarred to burn below, too
weak to smile above.
