Slow Down Poem by YasminAj Sesinyi

Slow Down

Do you ever watch carefully the sun as it leaves for another world?
Ever think of times when you're needed most but are too busy?
Do you even regret not spending time with a loved one?
Or smiling back at the kid next door?
You better slow down,
Take a deep breath
And start all over again.
Do you ever think of those children stricken by poverty before throwing lunch left-overs in the bin?
Ever wonder where they get their next meal?
Listen,
You better slow down,
Time may be racing,
But life is short.
Do you ever take time to ask the next person how they are?
Ever pause a little to listen to what they have to say?
Do you ever even wish to give a helpless elder at the home a smile?
Ever think about your after-working-age future?
Look,
slow down,
pause a little,
Take a little breath..
Show some care,
And maybe the world would be a better place to live in!
