Smelling Of Wealth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Smelling Of Wealth

Less easier done it becomes,
To attack the truth.
As an excuse once used,
By the ones feeling unamused.
But felt humiliated and abused,
Whenever truth was heard and introduced.
Yet kept defending their delusions.

Today?
There seems to be an awakening beginning.
For many.
Realizing the expense it is,
To keep fantasized.
By the ones profiteering,
From telling incredible lies.
Told to sell while smelling of wealth.
Too overwhelming to ignore,
The increasing rise of division and conflicts.
Invited to ignite,
Between those impoverished.
Disenfranchised, hungry and homeless.
Everywhere to witness this.

And still...
Condoned are the performances of the elite.
Leeching while feasting on a quality of life.
They intend to diminish.
Until remnants remembered of it fades away.

Yet...
Solicited to be given free tickets to watch,
Promises delivered around the clock nonstop.
Although...
Tastefully done.
With a proper etiquette accepted.
And applauded for the presentation.
Along with the awesome impression this makes.
