So Wise For One So Young (A Poem For Peace) Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

So Wise For One So Young (A Poem For Peace)

Rating: 5.0

He saw the rainbows in the sky
He heard the songbirds sing,
He loved the changing seasons
And the joy that they did bring,
He sang for peace when but a child
That song he always sung,
And everyone agreed he was
So wise for one so young.

He loved all creatures great and small
He loved the countryside,
Saw beauty there in everything
The land which gave him pride,
He sang for peace as he grew up
But few did heed his call,
For as he played the battles roared
And many souls did fall.

And so he played much louder
Than he'd ever played before,
And though he tried all that he knew
He couldn't end this war,
He sang for peace but words were lost
Upon the wind that blew,
Across the scarred and ravaged land
That he no longer knew.

He couldn't find an audience
To listen to his tune,
At dawn he played unto the sun
At night unto the moon,
He sang for peace till he grew old
And then so weak and frail,
Yet still no one did hear him sing
And so his song did fail.

Yet when he died the people mourned
Laid flowers on his grave,
And were so very grateful for
The lives he tried to save,
He sang for peace when but a child
That song he always sung,
When everyone agreed he was
So wise for one so young.

OH MY GOD! This writing is so charged with emotion. Dude you're gonna make me cry. Wow! This is one of the best poems I have ever heard in my life (I seriously mean that) . This is something that you would see in a book or something. You melted all the words together to form a great, wonderful and sad story. What a masterpiece! 10+! Matt, and like what Duncan said ('A reader of a fine gentlemen's work')
