Solamente En Mexico... Poem by Eli MorenoDrew

Solamente En Mexico...

One day I’m going to find me a girl
That loves me enough to take me
Down to Mexico and hold my hand.

Running past colored walls
And wrinkled smiles
With the scent of taquitos
And ocean air
Encumbering us like old sheets
On old beds
In old hotels.

I feel like I’ve grown so old
And bitter,
Like aged cheap tequila,
Looking for love again.

Sometimes I think of Ensenada beaches
Swarmed with locals beating the sun
And a hard day’s work
Just to get away and splash
And swim and smile.

Angels fly high in Mexico,
They exploit the fact that
There are no borders in the sky
And pass with ease through border-less skies.
I’m sure my angel is flying too high
To see me looking up at her
Hoping she’ll love me enough
To take me to Mexico.
