Solar Poem by William B. Deutscher

Solar

Pervasive sun, thermonuclear friend
That orders and structures all human life
With an illusion of purposeful time,
Ritual patterns, birthdays, holidays
By rote, the impermanent occasions
Which otherwise shape a meaningless whole,
Symbolized into something logical,
Inevitable, taken for granted
Until the day we no longer see it.
