Some Silences Poem by Saadut Hussain

Some Silences

Some silences are deafeningly quiet;

Like when I speak, you will not hear

Or what you hear I will not have spoken.

When it's been decided what to understand,

What we actually meant will have no meaning.

Our words and our meanings,

Lost to our own recluse and denial!
