Song: The Burning World Poem by Dave SmithWhite

Song: The Burning World

The whole damn world is burning;
And we walk around as lost.
The planet keeps on turning,
But we won't count the cost.

The whole damn world is burning;
There goes the Amazon.
And now it seems we're learning,
Bur far too late - it's gone.

The whole damn world is burning;
The forests reduced to ash.
No hope of them returning,
After they are trashed.

The whole damn world is burning;
As if no-one understands,
Why it is so much concerning,
To all in other lands.

The whole damn world is burning;
As most will feign to care.
But action means more than yearning,
Or offering useless prayer.

The whole damn world is burning;
You can smell it in the air.
It's the taste of doom interning,
Like the rot of laissez faire.

The whole damn world is burning;
It's such a sad affair.
The perps are quietly squirming,
And deign excuse threadbare.

The whole damn world is burning;
It's here and everywhere.
Our fear is ramped-up and churning,
With a malaise like mal de mer.

The whole damn world is burning;
It's right before our eyes.
For life's a collective burden,
We extinguish with our lies.

The whole damn world is burning;
It's something we all share.
The human race is earning,
It's face of true despair.

The whole damn world is burning;
Can we step up and swear,
An oath that is confirming,
Our resolve in public glare?

The whole damn world is burning;
The writing's on the wall.
With many more now discerning,
We must all sound out the call!

The whole damn world is burning;
Yet still we temporize.
The winds of change are swirling,
With the future compromised.

The whole damn world is burning;
So we must galvanize,
And prove we are deserving,
As a species to survive.
