Sonnet # 148 Poem by John A. Hancock

Sonnet # 148

Breaks the dawn the spell of night
Ending to slumber's nocturnal reign
Whilst streams of red and yellow embellish sky
The rising sun anon will claim
Dew drops sparkle glimmering jewels
In daylight golden rays
Sun kiss'd flowers silk unfurl
To o'er flourish a brand new day
Soft the sounds morning sings
Doves coo a lullaby
To lull to sleep the evening cast
Ere returns the dark of eventide
Heralds summer each waking morn
When nature's lyre melodies perform
