Sonnet: Lord, Take Me To Heaven Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Lord, Take Me To Heaven

Show me O God, that wondrous place Heaven,
And take me soon to be with Thee beside;
Fed up am I with temptations, demon;
More stay on Earth could mean soul’s suicide!

Who would say ‘no’ to gain one’s Salvation?
Who would be foolish to miss Heaven’s bliss?
Who would welcome Eternal Damnation?
Who would prefer the ‘Fiery Pit’ with hiss?

Alas, the world today appears like Hell!
And how more woeful could be Hell’s Abyss?
How can I then to devils, my soul sell?
Let me not remotely, ev’r Heaven miss.

O sprinkle Lord, Thine mercy/ grace profound,
And help me get within Thine Holy Ground!
