Treasure Island

Richard Allen Beevor

(23 March 1949 / London)

Soul

The mirror reflects the life it sees,
past days of love and joy,
the tender words that hearts will mean,
emotions with which we toy.

And in its gaze and in its stare,
the moment of regret,
through the haze awaiting there,
the feelings that we fret.

The mirror reflects the life it sees,
long days before we go,
tall ships sail across the seas,
to lands we've yet to know.

The mirror calls, the mirror sings,
a future we shall see,
the land of lights, the golden home,
the mirror within me.
